#LocalCharitiesDay: The Renewal Trust (Nottingham)

We’re celebrating our 21st birthday this year so we’ll be marking Local Charities Day 2018 by asking local people to help shape the next 21 years. We’ll be talking and listening to people in the communities we work with, and across Nottingham, to make sure our services and activities continue to provide exactly what local people want and need.

We’ve also been sharing a campaign called 21 Things To Do With The Renewal Trust, promoting how local people can benefit from our services, get involved with our work and enjoy our events and activities, from sports and the arts, to community fun days and school holiday clubs.

We’ve worked with local communities in Nottingham since we opened our doors in 1997 and since then we’ve grown to become a nationally-recognised charity working with children, young people and adults.

Making a difference

The Trust has made a huge difference to Nottingham over the years, including transforming St Ann’s Allotments, one of the biggest urban allotment sites in the world, from a neglected, underused area into a Grade II* listed heritage location with a one-year waiting list for allotments.

Today, we provide all kinds of services and activities for local people, including our very own community sports centre offering a whole range of affordable sports for children, young people and adults; an employment support service to help people find the job or training opportunity that’s right for them; affordable business space for local businesses including community businesses and charities; support for local community organisations; and community-led art and culture opportunities at Place, our creative hub located in Sneinton Market, part of Nottingham’s Creative Quarter. We also coordinate the citywide Future Leaders of Nottingham programme, which was nominated for a National Diversity Award earlier this year.

The whole ethos of The Renewal Trust is to help people live their best lives, whatever that means for each individual. Why not find out what you could be doing with us?
