Wonderful news today that Brueghel’s masterpiece ‘Procession to Calvary’ is to stay in the UK.
It is a wonderful start to what I hope will be a bumper year for public involvement in the arts. Particular congratulations go to the Art Fund for their support for the campaign, mobilising their members along with National Trust members who were also brilliant. As a result a record-breaking £680,000 of the £2.7 million raised to keep the painting in the UK was donated by members of the public.
